In Q3 2021, the top 5 social networking apps in Ghana exhibited diverse trends in terms of downloads and active users. Data from Sensor Tower provides insights into the performance of these apps on a unified platform.

WhatsApp Messenger saw a significant spike in weekly downloads mid-August, reaching around 537K in the week of August 23. Following this peak, downloads dropped to approximately 134K by mid-September but rebounded to 177K by the end of the quarter. Weekly active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 4.8M and 5M throughout the quarter.

Facebook experienced a consistent number of weekly downloads, peaking at 307K in early July before settling around 174K by the end of September. Active users showed a slight increase, starting at 7M in late June and reaching nearly 6.9M by the end of the quarter. Weekly revenue remained modest, averaging around $110.

Messenger displayed a steady increase in weekly downloads, peaking at approximately 68K in early September. Active users also showed a positive trend, rising from 4.7M in late June to around 5M by the end of September. Revenue exhibited minor fluctuations, with a peak of $30 in late July.

Telegram Messenger demonstrated a gradual increase in downloads, peaking at 91K in late August. Active users remained relatively stable, averaging around 1.8M throughout the quarter.

Hangouts had the lowest download numbers among the top 5, with weekly downloads hovering between 11K and 13K. Active users showed a slight upward trend, growing from 56K in late June to about 59K by the end of the quarter.
